I purchased a Aqua Lung Legend regulator/Suunto computer & octo set last summer. I had to install the octo & computer/high pressure hose and SPG so used the new O-rings it came with. I may have used a back up O-ring when I swapped one of the hoses around to a better suited port. Question is, are all O-rings that come in spare kits that fit the hoses Nitrox compatable? No where did it say on the spare O-ring kit if they are or are not Nitox compatalbe. I've dove regular air so far with the set and no problem. I'm working on a Nitrox cert now and would like to know before I go diving. Thanks,

Rob

In short. Recreational Nitrox diving is done on O2 of 40% or less (no need for o2 clean equipment). Thus, any standard scuba O-ring will do just fine.

Hope this helps

It's some what of a yes and no answer. Nitrile -common black orings- will have a shorter service life when exposed to nitrox as opposed to Viton (commonly used in nitrox upgrade kits) but in 40% and less applications the reduced service life is not worth worrying about. The actual service life of nitrile orings is a lot longer that the 1 to 3 years most regs go between overhauls. So what if you shorten it's service life if it's going to be replaced in a time frame that is much shorter than it's actual service life is anyway.
The story is different if you are working with pure O2, esp at high pressure.
