OK, so I've read that keeping the o ring clean and in good condition is a big part of avoiding a case flooding. And that taking it off the case when not in use is a good idea as well.

I have a WP-DC90 for my A620. It seems like a good place to store the o ring would be inside the case itself. Keeping the case closed keeps stuff from getting inside and having the o ring inside off the case keeps it clan and from being damaged from extended compression.

My question is, will the o ring be damaged/harmed by being slightly bent/twisted to fit inside the interior of the case. Does it need to be stored flat, in more or less a rectangular shape?

I curl mine once - it has kind of a natural way it does it - and pop it in a ziplock inside the housing. They come to you curled over (folded over, whatever you want to call it) if you order extras - at least mine have. It's not a tight curl or bend and won't kink the oring.

Basically you can twist the o-ring to create a figure 8, then fold that in half and you've got a nice single curl that will store nicely.

Thanks, I felt like it'd be OK as long as it was not folded in such a way as to cause a crease, but better safe than sorry.

I'm not that wild about the idea of folding an o-ring for storage. I always kept the o-rings on whatever I was using after religiously cleaning the groove out, cleaning the o-ring, and reinstalling it.
I always carried extra o-rings for everything, lightly lubricated, in ziplock bags.

Well as working for a sealing company:
NBR/Epdm O-Rings should have dark, no sun, no ozon, not very hot.
They shouldn't be pressed in any way, but just bending it a little bit will not harm much.

NBR/EPDM O-Rings get old pretty quick, while viton, I have vitons here, they have a guaranteed shelf life of 20 years

Yes, I learnt my lesson the hard way (hint: camera died underwater). With my new camera, I make sure to purchase new o-ring every year or so. Hard to tell whether the old one is going to "expire", so to speak.
