Didn't know whether to post this question in Regulators, DIY or some other place, but it landed here.

I like having tools and parts, even if I never need them. Been thinking about picking up some extra O-Rings, I've noticed alot of kits on the internet and ebay. They all seem to be about the same thing 382 O-Rings, 70 Duro made of Buna-N. I don't see any reason, at this point for me to be carrying a Viton set. The kits tend to run from $17.00 to $20.00 with case and shipping.

One of the sites is http://www.allorings.com/oring_kits.htm .

Before I place my order, I thought I would post on Scubaboard. To see if one, if these are crappy O-Rings or two, if the price was too high?

Tom...
Remember these things have a shelf life. If you do not see a need to have over 200 O rings on hand then I would suggest buying only a select few that you foresee using.
Older O rings can be become hard and even brittle.
If you have not made at least 3 runs to the hardware store it buy O rings for one project or another in the last month then this kind of deal may not be as good as it originally sounds.

If you want the o rings for your diving gear then you may want to look into one of the small assortment kits you see in the LDS.

Just my $.02

The price sounds fine. I find that o-rings kept out of sunlight or heat have a great shelf life. If you are comfortable working on your gear, by all means have a good supply of spares. A lot of times the dive shops I worked for would run out of rings, and I would have to supply them to keep things running.

The need for being prepared goes back to the ole Scouting days. I got This Kit from Reef Scuba (the deluxe kit) and it has come in handy several times, in fact this last weekend. A pick, silicone grease and lots of varied o-rings in a small double sided box. Very easy to carry

I spent about $2.50 on a small set of spares. Two or three of the few sizes you might need is enough. I don't plan on re-building a 1st stage at the beach.
