o-ring in or out??

So when I store my housing in a pelican case should I keep the o-ring in the [closed] housing or keep it out to save on wear and tear. Advice/Suggestions??

I keep my greased and sealed in a ziplock bag. You shouldn't keep your o-ring under pressure.

The same question was asked here recently.

Practices were split about 50/50.

The poster I most respected said remove, grease and store in a dark place.

The most thought provoking reply was "they are shipped with the O-rings in place with the latches locked down and they could have been that way for a year or more.

So... hell if I know.
