I've been using Nudipixel.net, but I'd prefer something I can hold. Can someone recommend a good nudi and flatworm ID book.

Thanks in advance,

Standing by for an answer. As much interest as there is in nudibranchs out there, nobody seems to have developed a convenient system for identifying them for the layman. In the case of nudipixel, the site recommends starting at "A" and going through the list of 240 genera until you find a slug that looks like yours. There has got to be a better way, perhaps with regional filters or maybe a taxonomic key.

For nudis you can search by country and the narrow it down by region, not so for flat worms. I am trying to id a flatworm in the Sea of Cortez where all matching pics on the site seem to be from Indonesia.

I have this one and quite like it - http://www.amazon.com/Nudibranch-Be...TF8&qid=1348594491&sr=1-1&keywords=nudibranch

Also this one Indo Pacific Nudibranchs and Sea Slugs: Terrence Gosliner,David Behrens,Angel Valdes: 9780970057433: Amazon.com: Books

Your best choice may depend on where you are in the world. if you go to either of those links, there are several other nudi books for different regions. Good luck!

Ive run across the Gosliner/Behrens book before, but $120 seems steep.

I think part of the problem might be the fact that there is what? 30 000 different known species? Add to that other than the latin names they probably have many of the same ones with different names in different locations too..

I have the first one. I also have Gotshalls' Pacific Coast Subtidal Marine Invertebrates

I started a thread in "name that critter". Can you confirm a nudi ID and ID a flat worm?

Well there are supposedly 18 species in the Sea of Cortez which means I have 12.5 to go. The .5 being one that I found but didn't get a good picture of.
