So the trip report is done, here you go. Well not quite done eventually there will be a 3-4 min video for those of us that have trouble staying focused, lol.

Nice review, MJH. I guess I was really lucky. Last year, I went and we saw 26 whale sharks in 6 dives...6 on one dive!!!!!

I liked the comment about the sea lions. They are delightful to swim with, and their high speed acrobatics are hard to catch on camera!!!!

I did dive with a Canon 5D Mk II, with two strobes, but found that often the strobes were a hindrance, not so much because of the currents, but the amount of stuff in the water caused lots of back-scatter problems. I alternated between taking shots with the strobes, and turning them off altogether.

But I must agree that everyone needs to put a liveaboard in the Galapagos as a "must do" trip. Yes, the diving is challenging (a bit on the "cool" side), the currents can be very strong, and the sea conditions a bit "stomach churning", but I would do the trip again in a heartbeat. Yes, it will run you around $7500.00 by the time you're done, but it is like diving in a Jacques Cousteau movie.
