I have been certified for years, but my husband just got certified 2 years ago and has only done 2 dives since his certification (and he was not comfortable at all). I hope he will learn to love diving like I do. We are going to Aruba the end of this month (May 2010) and I need to find a good and patient dive operation that will take us on some easy dives so that he can learn to relax-- obviously in small group -- I don't think I can afford private, but its not out of the question if its someone really good.

--suggestions? Thanks!!

Would it be possible for him to take Scuba Review (or similar from another agency, obviously) at your local dive shop before your trip? I think it would be a huge benefit to him before going diving in the open ocean. This is usually an inexpensive and wont take a lot of time, as it's just a refresher with a DM or Instructor from the shop.

The last time I was in Aruba, my dives looked like this-the last column was average depth:

ARUBA, NA TUGBOAT 87 30 min 53
ARUBA, NA MALMOK REEF 42 43 min 32
ARUBA, NA Blue reef/ 66 40 min 54
ARUBA, NA MALMOK REEF 44 43 min 34
ARUBA, NA Pedernales Wreck 25 48 min 21
ARUBA, NA Antilla Wreck 51 47 min 38
ARUBA, NA MALMOK REEF 44 43 min

They were not necessarily difficult dives, although the Antilla wreck had a bit of current. I believe the company I dove with was Red Sail
Hope it helps...
