I think this is an unusual pyrosome, clearly it is some kind of pelagic colonial tunicate. Shot last night on Black Water.

Funky, that’s for sure. What size? Do you think the orange dots might be eggs?
 
About a half inch across, I thought eggs too but not sure

Thought you preferred the 30mm for backwater shoots, and said the 45mm was a no-go? That is a great picture.
 
Yes indeed, normally I shoot the 30 but we moved from the boat to a day at a resort and all i had was the 45. Still a PITA for BW, probably missed 2x as many as I got.
