NOT Diving: Temple near Chiang Mai / Mae Wang area

Several years ago I did a jungle trek out of Chiang Mai and visited this temple. Can anyone tell me what the English name is or exactly where to find it on a map?

If you can post an enlarged version of just the sign I might be able to read it for you. I tried enlarging the photo you posted, but it's not clear enough for me to read.

My wife managed to read the sign:

The First line said "SAM NAK WI PASSANA"
The second line "PHRA THAT SRI SOMDET PHRA PHUTTA SHINNAWONG"
The third line "T.MAE WIN, A.MAE-----, CHIANGMAI"


So it is not temple but it is a place where you can do meditation

Do a google map search on:

"tambon mae win chiang mai"

That will get you to the Tambon (subdistrct) where the place is located.

I'm on a bouncing bus just now, so not so easy to search or post.

When I'm off the bouncy bus I'll try searching. But, there are many such places in Thailand that are not on any map and which don't turn up in any search engine.

Are you wanting to go back there, or what?

I have a brother who, when last in Chiang Mai, was there as part of a hashing event and so did not do a lot of touring on his own. He is going back in January (with a friend) and is wanting to know where I went with another brother.
