Everytime I dive I come up with blood on my face and in my mask. I thought it was a mask squeeze but it is not. I loosened my mask to ensure that it was not the mask creating the problem. After the dive when I blow my nose I also have blood coming out for about 1 1/2 days. To me it is not a problem however, other divers are QUICK to tell me that I have blood on my face and to wipe it off. It appears to bother the other divers more then it does me...I always respond by saying :"yes, I know it happens all the time no big deal". This does not concern me at all. Am I wrong for not being concerned? It is not like the blood is just pouring out and I feel no pain...

you have small broken capillaries in you nasal passages, usually these bleed into the sinuses during a dive and all the blood comes out at once when you ascend, which makes it look much worse.

If you have big gobs of it, I suggest you see an ENT doc

Does your nose bleed easily even when not diving? I agree with Mark, I would recommend a quick visit to an ENT doc get them cauterized. Your capillaries are resting near the surface lining in you nares and with the pressure experienced while diving causes them to burst. As for other divers being bothered, in this day and age the threat of contracting HEP A,B and, C along with HIV along with other diseases that are spread by blood is a big concern in some people's mind. BTW what is your B/P?

BP is normal. My nose never bleeds above ground without diving. I am a medic and can recognize life threatening issues and this is not one of them. As far as Hep, etc. they cannot contract it unless I am exposing the blood borne pathogen directly into their system. This is not an issue as I do not have hep. or any other diseases nor am I making out with the other divers (lol). No, it is not a lot of blood however a little of it is visible...This is not concerning to me at all. I just wanted to inquire about the situation to ensure that I am not looking at something that I think is not important where indeed it may be. Pressure related ingures etc is not my expertise...

Good, but some are not well versed on the transmission of blood born pathogens like you and I. I hope they don't meaning your dive ooops make out buddies, would be really bad medicine :11: . Plus somebody not knowing what your diving history with associated nose bleeds would think you had an overexpansion injury when you surfaced. Anyway hope you get it taken care of.
