My wife is newly certified and we were going to take 2 days to dive at Blue Lake and Sea Base in Grantsville, Utah. The weather doesn't seem to be cooperating so we thought there might be some place more south of Salt Lake city where it might be a bit warmer. Anyone know of a decent place in northern Arizona to dive?

Right now Sea Base, Blue Lake or the Crater are the warmest things going. In southern Utah you have Sand Hollow which was 52 deg a couple weeks ago with 10 feet of viz, but both will improve as the seaon progresses. Lake Mead should be approaching 60 by now and has plenty of attractions. You may want to consider an extended weekend and go to Catalina.

Yes, I have dived (dove?) in all those places. We went to Seabase last Thursday (4/29) and the visibility was less than 3 ft. I did get some fair photos of my wife feeding the fish and we did get the 9ft nurse shark to make about 6 passes right in front of us while we were on the shore. We also did Blue Lake and got a good photo of a large perch. Water temp in both places was 70 but it was cold and windy in the Blue Lake parking lot! The Crater costs $25 even though we have all equipment but tanks, but it is 98 - 100 degrees these days and visibility is 10 - 15 ft.

We are trying to find other diving places near Utah but not in Utah. I plan on doing Lake Mead later in the year when we do our deep dive specialty class but until then...anyone find some acceptable waters in northern Nevada or northern Arizona?

Besides Lake Mead consider Lake Tahoe, Lake Havasu Arizona or the Blue Hole in New Mexico.
