My nod-diver husband mostly likes to golf and hang out, is he going to be bored to tears on Cozumel? Hates snorkeling even, I am hoping to dive in the AM and hang with him in the PM. From researching on this scubaboard I'm thinking I'll use Dive with Alison or Blue XT Sea. I've got the accomodations narrowed down to either the Fiesta Americana or the Coral Princess (as we want no AI). Any comments, suggestions, or help out there is greatly appreciated. We'll be going there the third or fourth week of January.

There's a golf course on Cozumel and the Plaza is a good place to hang out and tourist watch. There's Mini-Golf, movie theaters, a mall.....I think he could find plenty to do for a few hours while you dive. Can't say all that is actually taking in the local culture but that's there too if he wants.

My vote is for Chisti's Blue XT Sea.

Check out this website http://www.playa-azul.com/ Golf and Beach resort...that way your husband can play golf and you can dive!

We would recommend Diving with Christi’s Blue XT Sea... had a great time diving in April and we are planning our next trip!

Have FUN!

Just do what I do with my non diving wife, throw a handful of credit cards at him and say"Go Nuts". I just don't tell her they're all canceled or maxed out til I'm done diving. :eyebrow:

IMO the Coral Princess is a nicer hotel. The FA is starting to look worn. Order one of these maps http://www.cancunmap.com/ it pretty much shows you everything there is to see and do on Coz. The Museum is a nice way to spend some time. Rent a car and see the other side of the island. Take the ferry over to PDC and go to Tulum for the day. Eating and drinking at all the different local restaurants is also fun. Dang now I want to go back. :D

I also recommend Blue XT Sea for diving. We had a great time when we were there in June. Have fun

The Coral Princess is out by the golf course. Not a bad place to hang out, but away from everything else. Everyone I know seems to get a room with a highway/jungle view. Figure out how to confirm a water view.

Thanks for your replies. We ended up going to Playa del Carmen and had a fantastic time. I dove Puerto Morelos but never got to dive Coz due to an El Norte that closed the small boat docks. I am hoping to go this January 2007 and I am considering going to Playa Azul so he can golf in the AM and I can dive.

if he takes a good book and likes the sun, poolside is a very nice thing. Little umbrella drinks with no bottom! Great food on the island and many things to seek out if one has the desire. I am sure he would have a great time. Coz is a wonderful place.

FA is a nice place. Stayed there the last 4 years. Nice pools. Good for you for not going AI. As mentioned above, there are many many wonderful places to eat on the island. I have an extensive list if you are interested send me a PM.
