NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) West coast Regional Office (WCR) is seeking to collaborate with an entity that will provide a vessel to support underwater abalone surveys and research conducted by SCUBA divers in the coastal waters of San Diego County. The vessel must be able to safely and efficiently provide transportation to San Diego County Dive Survey locations, accommodations for at least 14 SCUBA divers for ten, 1-day trips, and air and nitrox for filling SCUBA tanks. Dive boat personnel must be familiar with supporting both open circuit and closed circuit rebreather divers. NMFS shall conduct ten, 1-day trips to deploy, monitor and retrieve cages used for assessing disease exposure, to deploy and monitor abalone outplanting modules, and gather information on abalone abundance, distribution, and habitat suitability. All work will be conducted in sites within 3 nautical miles of the Pt Loma and La Jolla coasts in San Diego County.
