No posting?

Maybe I need a refresher on what would seem to be a simple thing, but sometimes when I write something to post, I don't see it posted.
Is there a place on the site for a quick tutorial on how to post? For this one I clicked on "post new thread" wrote the above and then I will click below on "submit new thread" I've done this in one of the forums with a dive question and it never appeared.

There are forums where your post needs to be approved by a Moderator. Other than that I wouldn't know why your post wouldn't be displayed.
