Nitrox / O2 problems in Tofo, Mozambique?

I received the following note from a Tofo dive op: "The nitrox situation is sometimes very difficult as it depends on when we can import medical O2. We have been waiting a few months thus far."

Is it common for Tofo dive ops not to have any O2 for Nitrox? This was a dive op which had been recommended to me, but I am wondering whether all dive ops are in the same situation currently or whether larger ops, or one which offers free Nitrox, have a larger supply.

I also hope this does not mean there's a shortage of emergency O2 on dive boats.

Anyone with experience with either issue?

Hmm thats strange, even though Mozambique is a difficult destination logistically, I have dived a lot there (Tofu included) over the years and I have never been made aware of a shortage of O2,.... so certainly I would not say its "usual". However my feeling is they would not compromise safety with boat O2 even if they were experiencing a bulk shortage.

I meant to answer this now that I have returned from Tofo, in case future divers are looking for the same info.

Diversity and Tofo Scuba are both running membrane systems - very reliable Nitrox when I was there.
Peri Peri could not offer me Nitrox in March (they are the op I quoted above). They cited issues getting medical O2 and the number of air divers on their trips. I would ask Steve/Nick directly for the period you intend to dive.

I did not have a chance to check the 02 supplies on the RIBs of any of the three ops.
