I was reading a manual for a BC, and a warning said that to use it with nitrox, a conversion kit must be installed first, and it is not certified to be used with nitrox. Is this just a CYA attempt, or legit? Do all brands require this? I was planning on getting my nitrox cert soon, and want to make sure I get the right kind of BC

...make sure your mask is nitrox-compatible. Your mask will be exposed to nitrox when you purge it, with possibly disastrous results if you have a booga hanging off the end of your nose.

I probably should point out that this was satire. The BC nitrox thing is bull****, which ScubaBoard won't let me say.

But you can say it's Donkey Doodoo

I would just follow the 40% rule that finally most manufactures are saying they equipment is good too....... but heaven for bid don't go over that you might blow up or something worse....... That's a little satire too......... that's the one thing I hate about this industry it is so hard to get a straight answer about anything because everybody is busy CYA .

No kidding. I'm still hacking up green stuff after O2 cleaning my lungs so I could use 50%. The doctor said that the pneumonia should clear up in a couple of months :out:

Now that I'm using 100%, I'm worried about the increased O2 loading in my blood may affect my p-valve. You sound like a real kinda tech guy. Could you give me some pointers on O2 cleaning my valve? It's stainless steel...

I just drink a little Simple Green every couple of days. Keeps everything cleaned out really well. ;)
