i have nimh AA batteries and a charger for them.......what are the rules for this? do i need to put it in my checked luggage? or can i carry on? and what about spare computer battery....checked luggage ok? (it may just be lithium ion batts that they are picky about....don't know, so i want to make appropriate plans for packing)

I just returned from Cayman Brac with both AA batteries and a charger in my carry on and had no problem at all.

Either way, I fly with niMh batteries all the time. I do suggest you buy some of the carring cases for them. Keeps them neater and prevents them from shorting out. TSA does require that batteries be removed from lights to prevent accidental activation and possible overheating.
