I'm looking into a Nikon 1 J1 setup (with Nikon housing) and was wondering if the older tipe Nikonos SB105 stobe would work with this as an entry level setup. I first want to get the baseline stuff correct before I will make the leap into the high $ market and frankly cannot currently afford a $400 strobe.
Older doesn't always mean bad and there are a range of 105's on the market for extremely good prices. Any reason not to use this stobe / flash.

- its big
- its heavy
- it has a slow recycle time (4 seconds +)
- it burns through batteries like crazy (45 flashes per set)
- how are you going to mount it?
- how are you going to trigger it?
