Just bought a new Nikon D80 and thinking about getting it underwater. Can anyone of you come up with any suggestions regarding the kind of setup I should go for ? I want to go for wide angle photography. What kind of lens that avoid vigneting should I go for ? Dome or port ? What's the main difference ?
Which housing that accepts filters is more affordable ?

Thanks !

I like the Sigma 15mm FE (~ 350.00 US). It is a sharp, fast lens and has a filter holder on the rear. I use a magic filter an no strobes for shooting Sea Lions in Sea of Cortez and was very happy. As far as housing / port combos....what is your budget?

As Dave said, we need an idea of your budget.

I have a D80 in Ikelite housing with 8 inch dome port. I use a Tokina 10-17mm lens and very happy with it. Magic filters can be used with the tokina also.
I use two Ikelite DS125's strobes also.

I had a Sea&Sea DX-D80. Used it with the 10.5mm fisheye and Sigma 10-20mm.
You can also look for Tokina 10-17, 11-24, or Nikon 12-24.
Sea&Sea has 3 domes for you to chose, Fisheye, Compact and Optical.
I used the Fisheye, now I am with the Optical (made of glass) requires a little more care, but it is worth it, specially with the 10.5mm or the 10-17.

Hi guys !

Thank you for your replies. Well, for first I'm looking for an advice regarding the housing I should buy. So far I checked few manufacturesrs and discovered that Nimar ( from Italy ) would be a choice to consider. I also found that there is a wide angle lens available ( see 0.25x Fisheye Lens for Nikon D100 D200 D80 D40X D60 D90 - eBay Digital Camera Lenses, Lenses, Photographic Accessories, Cameras. (end time 06-Mar-09 21:42:56 AEDST) ) that will work with my lens ( 18-55 mm ) and I'm looking for a housing and a dome port that will fit this particular configuration ). Any suggestion ?
Regarding my budget - I don't have one !!! I may be spending 500 bucks or 1500 - it depend on what will I find on the market.

Thank you for your posts.
