I have a Nikon Coolpix S-510 (small P&S) in a Fantasea housing. I really like the camera and would like to keep it a while.

I have also come across a Nikinos V and an SB-105. They both work and will be serviced soon.

Now, I know that the 105 can do slave with any camera, and that the Coolpix 510 can be set to forced flash, which has no pre-flash, and will work fine with the slave of the SB-105.

Here are my questions for anyone familiar with these setups:

1. Can I use the Coolpix S-510 with the SB-105 and get good pictures? Is this strictly a manual affair?

1a. I heard about an adaptor (HeinrichsWeikamp) but I don't know if it will work for my camera. It seems that this could emulate TTL with the Coolpix S-510???

2. How good a strobe is the 105 for macro?

3. Is using the Nikonos V still an option? Good pics out of it still? It has a 35 mm lens, so I heard that it is a bad range.

Right now I have a small pixtreme digi-slave flash, and when I try to use it macro, the pics always come out burned, even though I set the EV to -2... Something I am doing wrong I guess.

Thanks for reading and thank you if you can contribute any guidance...

I think it's manual, the TTL adapter probably won't work and by the time you got done with the cost, you'd be well along to buying a new strobe made for digital cameras with much more control.
Guess I'd try it out on dry land and see if you can dial it down enough for macro. The problem with it is control of the output, it's pretty limited.
