I'm a Fish!
Hello Nikon people.
My trusty old 10.5mm FE is starting to de-lam. Never liked how close I needed to get but the images were fairly sharp through the Nauticam 8.5" dome. I am shoointg DX currently and may move to FX shortly. I am looking at replacements. I am insterested in the Nikon 12-14. Looks like it will work with my done and the 30mm extension ring already have.
I am finding very little in regaurds to shooting this lens underwater. Does anyone have experience shooting this lens underwater? If so, what system? Any problems with focus/image clarity?
Seems strange there is so little info about a lens that has been around so long. Nauticam does nto even referecne it on their port charts fro DX/FX?! Am I missing something?

I had/have this lens back when I shot the D70 many years ago. It was a usable wide angle DX option, but the edge performance was pretty terrible in the 8" Ikelite dome ports I used at the time. I would pass this one by.

A much better- and high-quality substitute for your 10.5 FE would be the Sigma 15mm FE lens. It's a pretty great option on both DX and FX Nikon bodies. You can add a 1.4 teleconverter to get it closer if you like. Sadly, it does not work on the new Z-mount Nikons or I would still be using it. Check out KEH.Com or similar used lens sellers for a good deal on one.
