So, I was on a dive recently off Pompano and there were these three divers onboard - two guys and a gal - who spent pretty much the entire time before the dive smoking cigarettes, and then the surface interval smoking, and then all the way back to dock.

So, I got to thinking: why stop when you get in the water? There must be a market for pre-nicotinized gas fills for tanks. Just dial-in the partial pressure of nicotine into the mix. Dive shops could really make a killing (*ahem*) with such a device! Note: may have to adjust some deco tables.

Conversely, you know those little devices with the wet wick they're making nowadays that go inline with your reg hose and give you a wetter breathe? Just modify that to hold a lit cigarette.

As long as they use a rebreather...I don't want to smell smoky bubbles while diving...:rofl3:

Nicorette would be cheaper. :)

I'd hate to pay your o2 cleaning bills...:)

There's no need for O2 cleaning when you fill with CO/nicotine.:D

Sure... but with all that cigarette smoke, you would have to have the tar cleaned out periodically, scrape the sticky globs off the inside of the valve, brown gum out of the regulator, etc. In order to get a clean hit of that sweet nicotinated air of course.

I guess we would have to introduce a new class of sticker to mark tanks and regs that are "nicotine clean".

But hey, that new whole category of gear could give the equipment makers - and the service techs - just the boost they're looking for in this economy!

That could be a new specialty, as well.
