Me and my wife dive with both a UK Light Cannon, and a UK C8, C4 is the backup.

I recently did the ni-cad upgrade from UK with the big black battery pack (anyone know what amp hour these are? 2200 or 3300maHr?)

I can run the Ni-Cad in either my Light cannon, or the C8. Dura-cells Alkalines in the other.

So which light to run the ni-cads in, the HID or 13/20 watt lo/hi-beam upgraded C8?

I'm thinking run the C8 bulbs on the Dura-cells, and the ni-cad in the light cannon?

Which is more power hungry that will better match to the ni-cad drop off curve when depleted?

Or am I just an anal electrical engineer who wants to milk his amp hour burn to the last drop...........drip drip drip.

thanks for your valued experienced input.

For anyone else contemplating this, you can get loose 4500mah C cells that work in the LC. I just use a 4 x C cell battery holder and charge them in bulk on a Maha charger. Works great. Should be a lot better battery life than the NiCad pack - haven't done a burn test yet (it's for rec use only), but I would expect 4 hour burn times.

http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=323 <-- would pay for itself in short order. Packs of 8 Duracells are like $9 each around here.

The rechargable kit will give you about 2-2.5 hours in the 13watt C8 or the HID, and 1.5 hours in the 20watt C8.

The 4500mah C batteries should give you about 4 hours in the 13watt C8 or the HID.

I'd buy the 4500mah C's, put them in with the 20watt C8, and use the NiCad pack in the HID (or just buy another 8 C's for $30).

thanks for the links to the battery and recharger site, and everyones comments.
