No more underachieving Mets!

No more pathetic Jets!

One more fresh start for the Islanders, who looked good and went 7-0 this preseason.

Any predictions for this years cup contenders?

In the west, I'm liking the Mighty Ducks. I think losing Kariya and gaining Federov will open up their offense and after last years performance by JSG in goal, they....could...go ...all the way!

I think the east is up for grabs this year, and that Detroit could dominate the NHL. That's if The Dominator can get back in form behind what's probably the best defensive crew in the league. That could be scary!

How long will The Wings carry two goalies?
How will Hasek perform in the rgular season?
Can Atlanta overcome their tragedy and loss of their leader?
Will the Rangers continue to suck with losing Richter, Leetch, Bure, an aging Messier, and a crybaby Lindros?
Will Milbury make horrible decisions that kill the Isles?
The Avs after Roy?
Ed Olczyk's coaching debut...
The luming cloud of lockout...

Let's go Devils!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for the heartbreak that is the LA Kings to skate out to another season of "missed it by that much...."

Hockey rules.

I predict that this will indeed, be the year of the Calgary Flames. They will rise from the gutters and all the sinners will bow down to their glory and grace. Prepare for devine intervention baby. Cowtown is gonna kick some petunia. :shades:

We can only hope :D

I think the wings will dump Cujo as soon as they have a buyer. I read that Hasek took a pay cut to come back so that the organization could pay part of Cujo's salary to whoever signs hiM.

K- The LA kings remind of of the Islanders of the mid nineties. They stank, but no one in the organization seemd too concerned about it :upset:

They'll be good this year for sure. I'm not convinced they've added enough support around Inglia to go all the way yet. He's still young enough that they have time to keep building though.

OK, here are my predictions for the upcoming season...

East
1. New Jersey
2. Ottawa
3. Toronto
4. Philadelphia

West
1. Colorado
2. Dallas
3. Detroit
4. Anaheim

STANLEY CUP FINALS
Dallas over New Jersey

I'm not being a total homer here. Yes, the Stars did lose Hatcher to the Wings (maybe they should be called the Detroit Red Stars), but if they can find adequte help on defense in front of Turco, the offensive tools are already in place. And revenge would be SO sweet if we were to take the Cup away from the Devils, like they did from us in 2000.

The Senators are the team to watch this year! They have a complete package and they are hungry after finishing in the tops in the league last year but not getting the "icing" they wanted.

The Devils if history repeats itself will be MIA as they have been in the past after winning the cup.

The wings real contenders again. The Hasek/Cujo shtick will pan out one way or the other! (I wouldn't send Cujo to another pound yet) Haseks' better days maybe behind him.

By Christmas we will be able to tell what is happening in the league and who is up and coming and cutting some grooves on the ice and who is just showing up with nothing to show ;)

Watched the Colorado/St. Louis game last night. I can't believe the goaltending that Osgood had to pull off for St. Louis to win! Colorado's new offense is almost frightening.

How's this for a power play first line:

Joe Sakic
Paul Kariya
Teemu Selane

I was getting dizzy watching them!!!!

Then out comes PP line two (you know, the scrubs) featuring Forsberg and Hejduk..........Scary

How so? They missed the playoffs after their 1995 cup. After their 2000 cup they went straight back to the Stanley Cup Finals. And so far after the 2003 cup, I see a new roster which has so far rose their powerplay from the dead.

Hopefully history will repeat in that the Devils will win a cup every few years.
