Well, my old cellphone that I used for tracking dive fell all of three feet the other day, landed on the corner of the screen and is no more.... Mike Bilheimer got an ancient iPhone from his brother, so we are using that this week. It’s so old we couldn’t find a track app for it and could only get this crummy subscription one to work. Neither of us wanted to pay for any of the features... If anyone has a old Android phone, give me holler.
Our first dive was at Green Bridge. We surface swam out and then dropped down to 15’. There was a pretty good long shore rip, so despite trying swim south, we went along the shore rocks. Once we were on the rock pile, I found a gap through the rocks and we followed sand line keeping the rocks on our right hitting a max depth of 35’. Once we rounded the pile and headed back in, we entered the larger with about 1,500 psi left (I didn’t want to cut it to close on air coming back in because of the current and surge). We spent the last portion of the dive cruising around lookin for tropicals (and not finding any). Water temps varied from high 60s to low 70s. Dive time was 67 minutes. Visibility was around 8-10’, went 15 outside the rocks (and bellow the surge).
Our second dive was at Kings beach. We bottom navigated out to bird island, then followed the sand line along the rocks until we reached southern tip. Suddenly visibility dropped from 8-10’ down to less 2’. I was hoping once we were around the point it would clear up. After a few minutes of Braille diving, I turned the dive and we headed back around the island. When we were about a half way up the island, I cut across the sand towards the exit. When we reached the other side of the sand we both still had around 1,500 psi, so we explored the area on the rocks (I lost a weight belt near there a couple of years ago). We exited the water with about 1,100 psi. Max depth 34’, 54 minutes bottom time.
