Hi All, We were introduced to this site today and are going to be honeymooning in Cozumel in 3 weeks. We finished our certification today so we're excited about diving in Mexico. We could sure use some good advice about who to see and where to dive. And of course who to stay away from so we make it back to the states and not float down to South America! Thank you, Ken and Kate.:

Cozumel is all about diving. Look at the Cozumel section in the Travel forum and you'll get overwhelmed with advice. Everyone has their favorite dive op, place to stay, restaurants, bars, etc.

Our personal favorite dive op (we're beginners too) is Aqua Safari. They have a shop close to the cruise ship pier downtown and a second location in The Cozumel Palace (our preferred resort hotel). 23 of our 44 total dives have been with Aqua Safari over the course of two trips in the past year. They are quite good at grouping skill levels, ensuring you have a great dive experience. Their prices are cheaper than most too. Check out their website at Cozumel Scuba Diving with Aqua Safari.

Explore Cozumel. Enjoy the locals. And dive to your heart's content whomever you dive with. You will have fun!
 
Congrats on getting certified and good luck on you wedding/trip to Coz.

I haven't been to Cozumel so no advice on ops etc.

Just don't be afraid to speak up (before the boat leaves) and tell the Captain/DM that you are not comfortable with the dive they are planning. If they don't change the dive plan go on another boat.

Much of Cozumel's diving is deep and/or fast-current drift dives. There are plenty of suitable sites for beginners and Dive operators vary widely in quality and safety, but there are several excellent operators.
 
Congratulations on your certifications!

I have been diving in Cozumel and its great. Youll have some first dives in your logs that could make a lot of people very jealous!
I dont know any cozumel specific ops however as I was staying in Cancun, diving there, cozumel and the cenotes. I dont think you need to worry about drifting off to south america as long as you go with one of the big cozumel dive ops, but if you do Ive heard its nice there this time of the year :p

If you have the time for it I suggest you look into a whaleshark safari while youre there. It may be a bit pricy for "only snorkling" but its an AWSOME experience.
 
Call "Dive with Martin" and ask what you may need that they do no provide with your dive trip package.
