I just joined the board, found it looking for information concerning dive operations on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. My wife and I were in Cozumel 6/12-6/17 and completed 14 dives two of them over 90 feet. This was my second dive trip and her first. It was also her first experience with drift diving.
We will be spending a week on Kauai in September and I'm trying to find out who we should dive with when we are there, planning to dive only 3 days. Plan that this will be a vacation with some diving as opposed to the Mexico trip which was a dive trip with one day of vacation.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Excited for you to hear you are going to visit. Sept is a great month to visit as things have really slowed down here (though by most visitors standards Kauai is already very slow). There are three long established full service shops on the island that offer both boat and shore diving. Seasport Divers in Poipu, Fathom Five in Koloa, and Bubbles Below charters on the west side of the island. No trips currently run out of the north or east shores. There are also a handful of operations that specialize in shore diving. Most of the shops are excellent and have consistent rave reviews and perfect safety records. Looking into previous posts you'll find consistent and numerous reviews on the big three - and good feedback on some others. I personally have dove for and on occasion still dive with Bubbles and Fathom - though I currently work for SeaSport Divers. Hard not to be biased but my personal reason for seeking out SeaSport divers was their unmatched experience level of divemasters. In fairness I will say that both the owners of the other comapanies do have a tremendous amount of time in the water as well. I can give you names and contact information for all three if you like. Also, if you desire - send me some specific questions on diving here and what your interests are. I can help you with anything you may need. My name is Anthony and I have been diving here for a little over 11 years and have logged over 8,000 dives. Hard to believe but some old timers here blow that away. I think it's because it such an amazing place to dive.

Hope I can help you out. Have a great week!

p.s. If you want to get more responses title a new message mentioning Kauai and that you are looking for operators. It should get you more feedback. Hope it's helpful.

Thanks a million. I will discuss the issue with my wife and hopefully come to a decision. We will be staying at The Cliffs at Princeville, which may be a factor in the decision.
I'm pretty sure what we want is a relaxing dive with "critters", still new enough to not care about wrecks all that much. I have only 49 dives and my wife just about 30 so really still "green" when it comes to diving. We are both Nitrox and "High altitude" certified. The high altitude comes from where we got our certification, the "Blue Hole" in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, diving at 5000 ft.
Again thanks for the reply.
