Regardless of where you get certified, you'll probably love it. I know I would have enjoyed being certified anywhere, even if there were not as much life as I see here on Vancouver Island.
First thing I'd suggest is to update your profile, at least with your location and dive experience, so people can give you more specific tips if you have any questions. Here are some relevant sub-forums for you (New Divers and Those Considering Diving and Basic Scuba Discussions ), in case you haven't visited them already. Also, the search function is sometimes useful.
