Ok, I know this is a stupid question, but i can't for the life of me find the answer. Does the regulator come off a Low-pressure port, or a high-pressure port off of the first stage? Thanks in advance, Jesse. (by the way, if ive posted this in the wrong forum, please move. I thought it was more a beginner question then a regulator question though)

The 2nd stage regulator comes off the low pressure port on the 1st stage, as does your alternate air source, B/C low pressure inflation hose and dry suit inflation low pressure hose (if you're diving a d/s).

In fact, the HP and LP ports are different sizes in order to prevent accidental mismatching (in the vast majority of regulators).

It connects to a Low Pressure port like the inflator or secondard regulator. You shouldn't be able to thread a low pressure connector like a second stage to a high pressure port.

Edited: I suppose I type too slow, lol

the only thing that connects to a high pressure port is the console (for the pressure gauge) or a pressure gauge (if no console).

everything else (regulators, BC inflator, drysuit inflator) come off a low pressure port

like K says, you can't fit one into the other, so you will not accidentally put a hose in the wrong port

Or various tools (commercial diving).

no clue about commercial diving, sorry

alrighty thank you very much. That makes alot more sense now. For some reason I was thinking that the regulator came off the HP ports, and then i couldn't figure out how someone could get an alternate reg on some 1st stages. Thanks everybody for the clarification.
