Howdy folks,

New guy checking in. I'm up in the Northern Virginia area now, but originally a redneck from South East Texas. I'm just now getting Open Water certified, but have been on a few resort dives over the years.

I've just finished the online PADI course tonight, and will be checking in with the local dive shop very soon (hopefully tomorrow) to schedule the remaining classes.

I consider myself a total newbie to this hobby (or lifestyle as so many people point out) - so I'm going to be wearing out the search feature. As you probably all know, newbies almost always exhaust search efforts prematurely and bust out a thread with a really dumb question. I'm sure I won't be an exception - so I apologize in advance. :cool2:

More about me... well, like I said above - a self-proclaimed redneck from Texas and I work in the software industry. I'm a proud father-of-two, husband, bible believin', motorcycle-riding, gun loving, stubborn, troop supportin' patriot who appreciates great people, great times, a good hearty laugh, and adventure.

Anyhow - thanks for the forum and the time and wisdom members contribute to help grow us new folks in this fine activity.

Sincerely,
Rob

Welcome aboard, Rob.
You'll find the board to be a huge resource for diving info, and not a small source for other stuff, too.
I've lived in Austin, Beeville & Corpus, so we probably know three or two of the same places...
Rick
