Hi everybody. New to SB and scuba diving. I've done 2 Discover Scuba courses. One in Key West Fl. Another on Grand Cayman Island with my fiance. She loved it enough that we're probably going to work scuba diving into our honeymoon next summer. Lots of work to do by next June.

The only equipment we own is masks and snorkels we got from a dive shop in Grand Cayman. I'm hoping to buy the wetsuits, BCs, regs, computer/gauges, and fins before the big day. Living in Indiana, we are at a disadvantage for trying scuba equipment so I'm relying heavily on e-reviews for now, and then advice from the few local dive shops (one in Bloomington, a few in Indy). Are there any companies that have a try-before-you-buy philosophy. Or a trade program if you don't like what you buy (for online buying mostly).

I'm hoping to complete the PADI weekend OW course offered here in Bloomington next spring when both out schedules allow it.

We will most likely just do typical recreational diving in the Gulf area, maybe some off the North Carolina coast. Small chance we'll do much of anything local to Indiana. I'm not a fan of cold/murky water (<70*, and what's the point when you can't see anything), but I can use a 7mm or drysuit for when it's too cold for me to adjust to comfortably. My fiance was a competitive swimmer in H.S. so "cold" water doesn't bother her a bit.

I've already learned a lot lurking on this board. I decided to become a member b/c I see scuba as my next cheap hobby. Cheap compared to offroading with my Jeep, where one weekend can cost thousands in repair costs if something breaks.

Welcome to the ScubaBoard! Two great choice...marriage and scuba......
