Hello new to this sight and diving. Me and the Misses are both new divers just completed the training to become open water divers. We are currently based in northern Utah. For those from around here we have trained at belmount springs and the crater at homestead. I hope I don't have to buy to much cold water equipment;)

Hey :admingreet: and welcome to Scubaboard.

If you don't mind doing as you user name suggests, there is a world of warm water diving just a flight (or two, or three) away!

No all that partial to cold water diving myself

Last month we spent a week in Cozumel, and I probably didn't need a wet suit at all, but I did use a 3mm.

On the trip to Bonaire that some of us from here on the board are going on this coming June, I definitely will not bother bringing any wet suit at all. We do have room for a few more on that trip if you are looking for some warm water, easy shore diving.

Hi! :bounce: my boyfriend and myself also got certified in UT. We both did our training and certification at Bonneville Sea Base. If you haven't been out there it is kinda fun. Terrible visibility, but lots of fish and things to look at. Haven't done Belmount Springs, where is that at? We live in upstate NY now (def need the cold water gear here) but are going to UT for the summer and it would be fun to dive someplace new (and warm).

What region of upstate NY? Am fairly near Albany area myself. And yes, water here is plenty damcold, especially right now, when it is quite solid. :shakehead:

Bemont Springs aka: Camperworld, Udy Springs, Nudie Springs, is north of Tremonton in Garland.
You will not be able to dive Belmont in the summer. They close it to diving from May-October because the water temperatures become unbearable.
May want to consider a trip south to Sand Hollow near St. George or fight the horse flies at Blue Lake.

Oh and welcome to SB flyrdives

Congrats. You are now part of an Elite group of people. It is an amazing feeling isn't it. Have fun in all of your endevors.

gypsyjim: Currently we are in Cooperstown, about 1.5 hrs west of Albany, but after our summer in UT we will be living in Buffalo. We also spend a lot of time in the Adirondacks. Can you recommend anything good? We haven't done much local diving, but made some trips up to NH and ME.

Scott: Thanks for the info, we will have to try Sand Hollow and try Belmont Springs some other time. :)

I only live @ 1/2 from you in Cooperstown. Nearer Cobleskill.

We don't do a heck of a lot of local diving, but do on occasion enjoy diving Lake George once it warms up a bit.
