I just returned from a two week vacation in the Philippines. That place is great!! Not having been diving in 10 years I went to Borracay Island to get my Advance Open Water Cert... mann was it fun!!!! Thank to Victory Divers (uli, phumi, victor, aj and everyone else that I may have forgotten) for the great dives, instructions and great company........

Friday's Rock was great! Many coral and fish....being a reeftank enthusiast I found diving there a real pleasure....many Jack fish and large anenomes :)

Cammia2 was a really good wreck dive seeing that huge ship underwater was breathtaking...if you go look for the big lion fish hanging out in the compartment and the scorpoin fish on the railing...many say that the fish is often there just hanging out.....

The General drift dive was fun too....It was was my first time and after getting the hang of it it was really cool to drift at 45 kilometers per hour........woowoooo :o

And last but definately not least....visit Yapak2!! Thats where the Big fish roam....I say my first shark there out side of an aquarium.....It was a 6 ft reef shark but I swear it was at least 12 ft long... hahahah..

Boracay Rocks......I'm back in the states but I miss it already..... I can t wait to do some diving here in Monterey to see the giant kelp forrest... :)

I am glad you liked Boracay. You should try some of the other sites in the Philippines.

To tell you quite frankly, Boracay is known for its fine sand beach and not for its diving.

If you think boracay is good you should visit places like puerto galera, Anilao, Balicasag... and the ultimate... Tubbataha.

ima be in the philippines dec 20-jan 31.. any liveaboards gonna be out in tubbataha u know? a friend of mine has one booked but its gona be in march.. hes a lil slow getting back to me, so if anyone knows of anything dec-jan, lemme know! thxx

I agee with Flash, Boracay is a very nice Island but the diving IMO it very entry level stuff, as far seeing any reel sea life. Apo Island should be put on a list of places to go dive when in the Philippines.

Glad to hear that about Apo Island. I am going to be there with some friends the last week of November. I still don't really much idea about what to expect there, macro, palegics or what. Any information would be much appreciated!

Lots of Jacks, Lion Fish, sea snakes turtles Great Sanctuary for snorkelling. Macro not sure as this was my first time diving other than Boracay so I was not looking for these, just consummed by the awe of being under water.
I hope you are staying at Libety's Lodge on the Island. Its is breath taking and so peaceful. Food is excellent. A little step back in time as there is now ruuning water in the rooms you use a bucket to scoop water out of a basin to bath and to flush the comode. Generator gets shut off at around 10pm and boy is it dark. Recomend you bring a flash light as they do not allow candles But don't be taken back by this as the sunsets from Liberty's Lounge (or your room facing the Sea) are ......... lets just say wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
I truly enjoyed my 5 day stay on the Island.
Dumegette on the other hand has a few bars to go out and have soem good times, dancing drinking. More modern hotels, but you will never et the same feeling as if you stayed at Liberty's.Its hard to put into words but it brings me goosebumps as I rwrite this as I want to go back.

Liberty and her gang will treat you like royalty.

Cannot wait to go back. My wife was originally from Bacolod, which is on the other side of the Island from Dumegette. I hve been to the Philippines twice now
