Hello All,

I'm a new user from Berkeley, California.

I got my OW in Hawaii in 1995... took some great opportunities to dive in New Zealand and Australia around 2000 and did a refresher in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico when my wife was getting certified in 2009 but I never felt comfortable diving in California. Now I'm at UC Berkeley (I'm an older undergrad at 32) and have a chance to take a semester long NAUI "Advanced" course. It seemed like a great chance to learn in California waters and to really take my time with the class so the theory stuff sinks in better (plus a great excuse to finally buy gear).
Anyway, this is a great forum. I've already lurked and read lots of thoughts and opinions from folks and really appreciate it. So, cheers! :beerchug:

Welcome Ryan! Cold water diving around here is a completely different experience than wamer waters! Prepare to be surprised!

If you're ever looking for a dive buddy to go diving around Monterey feel free to hit me up :)
