Just read all international travelers returning to USA must have negative test prior to boarding return flight

It’s about time.
How so?

Let’s take a hypothetical week trip to Cozumel, Arrival Saturday, somehow manage to forget my mask and I decide to eat inside a restaurant on Wednesday. I very dutifully go for my return home Covid test on Thursday and miraculously get my negative result on Friday so board and return home Saturday. Then develop symptoms on Monday.

How did the test help?

And why on earth was the vaccine option omitted?

But it seems same traveler from Mexico could just hop in a car and drive home...

My wife and I just booked a trip to Cozumel and I was wondering if anybody has first hand experience getting a COVID PCR test in Cozumel and what was the process like? My only concern would not having the results in a timely matter.

I'm curious too about the fact the vaccine option was not there.
