Just read in today's Por Esto online edition that an "underwater museum" was being completed between Cancun and Isla Mujeres.
A total of 400 life-size statues portraying actual people and carved by sculptor Jeason de Caires Taylor will be submerged, creating an art-ificial reef which hopefully will be covered in life over time.
According to the newspaper, this will be the first "underwater museum" in the world.
It will open on Nov 27th, cost of "admission" US$ 2 per person on top of the cost of the dives/snorkelling trip.
The story doesn't mention the depth of the site, called Musa, nor it's exact location.
Below is the link to the article (in Spanish).
