It saddens me to no end that they kill 200,000 seals each winter in Canada..... with bats and pic-axes.

Thanks - totally agree. Humans can be mindless at times!
We could in fact learn a great deal from animals such as these!
I have come to learn that seals are extremely gentle despite their considerable power and strength. (Average bull seal weighs 220kg ...nearly 500lbs), they are playful and highly inquisitive. They are also accepting and given enough time underwater with them will accept you into their midst.
It is a privilege to be in their company. I know that I am exceedingly lucky!
