New to this Forum-Sandals Hicacos

Hi there, looks like an intersting forum, going to Sandals Hicacos-Varadero Jan 27/07 for a week, some dives are included in price ( 1 a day) will be taking our own stuff. Anyone been there recently and can comment?

I have been to sandals 2 times but never heard of Sandals Hicacos-Varadero. Are you sure of the name? What Island is it on?

There are Sandals resorts in Jamaica (7), St. Lucia (3), Antigua (1), the Bahamas (1) and Cuba (1), so you well may not have heard of all of them, and particularly not of the Cuban facility since US citizens ordinarily cannot travel to that nation.

Sandals Hicacos-Varadero is in Veradero, on the main island of Cuba. It's on the north shore, some east of Havana and just a bit ENE of Matanzas. Map of Cuba ----> http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshells/caribbean/cuba/cuba.htm

Well I guess ya learn something every day. I did not know they had one in Cuba. It seems odd that its not listed on their web site, but maybe its only not listed on their US web site.

Hi Dave,

That is correct. You will find the Sandals Hicacos-Varadero listed on Sandals' foreign sites, such as that for the UK.

BTW, I just noticed that the Cuba map link in my prior post was not working, so I corrected it.
