Hi Kiet,

Welcome to the SoCal section of ScubaBoard! :happywave

Congratulations on joining the ranks of certified divers!

The conditions in Laguna have been really nice lately. We dove Shaw's Cove on Friday morning and were quite pleased.

I hope you can make it to one of our Wrinkles Beach Dive and BBQ events or one of our Mo2vation Boat Dives. You'll find that we're a friendly group here in SoCal and most of us are quite open to go diving with new divers.

Dive safe!

Christian

Welcome, Kiet!
Newly certified myself and having a blast. Shaw's Cove in Laguna is really nice, especially if you can get out on a weekday. Weekends can become tedious with regard to parking. Don't forget Casino Pt on Catalina. A little something for everyone there.

Here's a good guide to Laguna Beach dive sites and conditions.

Hope to see you around.

Hi Kiet,
Congrats on getting your OW cert. Maybe we'll dive together soon, have fun & be safe.

Happy Diving
John

Welcome to the So Cal forum Kiet! Congrats on your OW certification. Diver's is a great choice - lots of bat rays hang out there. Please join us for one of our Wrinkles or Mo2vation dives so we can meet you!

Hey Kiet,

Congrads on the recent certification. Not to long ago I was in your shoes new to diving and looking for people and places to dive. I have to say I was lucky when I hooked up with South Coast Divers. We Dive every weekend in various spots in Laguna. There are usually 10+ divers every Saturday from beginners to Dive Masters so ther is always someone to help you out. If interested check out the website for more info, http://southcoastdivers.com/

thanks for the nice welcome guys. Yeah i can honestly say im addicted to this sport now. My ultimate goal is to become an instructor. I am an avid fisherman (catch and release) and now i have gain a new respect for the ocean. it's much more interesting seeing a free swiming fish than one on a line. im definately going to look into joining a club and going to a couple of wrinkles dives.

Welcome to the party. Enjoy the diving in a safe manner and enjoy all the wonderful new friends you are going to make right here and at the beach.

Welcome to the world of scuba and to Scuba Board, Kiet. Shaw's Cove and Diver's Cove are both very good dive sites in Laguna Beach, especially starting out. There are a number of other dive sites - Crescent Bay / Seal Rock / Deadman's Reef (long surface swim), Fisherman's Cove, Heisler Park, and just as many sites in south Laguna. PM me if you'd like additional info on local dive sites, clubs, e-mail lists, etc.
