Hello all,
I'll be taking my PADI Open Water course in about 3 weeks. I've done a little snorkeling; but, never any scuba diving. I travel all over the world with my job and every time I'm going somewhere, I search the obligatory "Things to do in xxxxxx." Almost every time scuba diving comes up. I spend a lot of time in Southeast Asia as well as Central and South America, so I figured I'd go ahead and get my certification so I can do some diving when I'm travling.
When I'm not traveling, I live in Texas. I'm really looking forward to getting this ball rolling and I appreciate any advice anyone offers. Points of interest for me are:
- Diving destinations
- Information on:
- Kota Kinabalu/Labuan, Malaysia
- Balikpapan, Indonesia
- Eastern coast of the UK (Scotland, specifically)
- Easy weekend trips from DFW - Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean?
- Equipment
- Literature/learning resources
