hey, new to the site. i have been diving for about 5 years and will look for just about any reason to get in the water. i live in murphy nc (the most western county in nc) which is about 15 minutesfrom Ga and about 5 minutes from Tn. just wanted to say hey and see if there are any other divers in the area.

Hey Luky!

Been to Murphy many times...... my family was from Franklin.

You dive up there any? those lakes are freezing cold (Hiwassee, etc)

I saw some guys gearing up on hwy64 on Lake Ocoee below the whitewater last summer. not sure what kinda of vis they would have as that lake looks dark brown from the road.

Check out the forum for the Southeast USA here on this board. ... FYI

i have dove hiwassee a few times, normally pretty bad vis (less then a foot sometimes, best i have seen is about 7), and pretty cold. and i lived in franklin while going through B.L.E.T.
and those guys over on the ocoee were prob with CUDA, (chattanooga underwater diva asso.) they do river clean ups in the area, im a member but have not had a chance to dive with them. i have heard ocoee has pretty good vis.
im planning on diving nantahala lake and some over in robinsville this year, only downside to living here is its well over an hour to the closest dive shop to fill my tank. so far this year i have only done some freediving/snorkling in hiwassee and i have been doing some freediving in deep holes in the local creeks, only about 5-15ft deep but its kinda cool to watch the trout, plannin on tryin to snap some pics of them.
maybe wecouldget together sometime for a swim
