Hello,

new to the board and have a question. I've been certified for over 20 years and believe it or not and just now replacing my original gear purchased from a place called berry's scuba in chicago back in 1987.
i've spent the last 20 years working as a commercial diver and one of the things that i've learned is that 9 times out of 10 simpler is better. I'd like peoples opinions on the zeagle scout. seems simple and functional to me but since i don't have the opportunity to try it first i need some honest feedback.

Not going to use it for anything out of the ordinary, mostly diving in the lake we live on (normally just use a backpack and bottle)

My normal high tech set up includes

shorts
sweatshirt
atlas rubber palm gloves
sherwood magnum regs
scuba pro fins

Any input on the scout would be greatly appreciated

I actually had one and loved the fit. Then i read some posts from people that had issues with the weighting so I returned it. Now with a bit more experience and good buoyancy I find I'm going to buy it again. It is definitely a compact bc. good luck with it. sigh, another $200 my wife is gonna kill me.

FWIW, when I read:

coupled with:

i find that the longer i do soemthing the less equipment i need to do it.

I'm wondering why you need a BC at all. Seems you've got it covered. :)

I had one and liked it fine except for the tank wobble. Your BP probably doesn't have much wobble. I hate wobble. The wobble drove me mad.

it's not a matter of need, just would like to look at some different things on the lake that may be better served with a BC. the lake was made in the 60's and has houses and graveyards and such underwater but below the thermocline where i gets a bit more chilly.

Why not get a wing to go with the plate you already have? It would be cheaper and you already know it fits.

...Always nice to have one of the brothers slip back over to the world of hoseless diving!

I've been back into scuba some 10 years now & have 3 bcd's; a simple Sherwood front bladder unit ( ideal for teaching ), a Zeagle Tec ( similar to what you're looking at ) that is comfortable u/w with it's rear-wing bouyancy bladders, & a hog set up for twin h.p. steels.

The Scout model should work fine for you in the application described.

So, were you inland, offshore or both? Shoot me a p.m. & fill me in on your career, perhaps we know some of the same lads.

Best,
DSD
