Hello, I am new to the board. I am particularly interested in diving for lobsters in MA, diving around Cape Cod, and Caribean waters. I do have a question: I am very interested in diving with NITROX tanks. Any feedback on the benefits and negatives of switching over to NITROX?

Welcome drmdiver! I'm not nitrox certified, but I'm taking the PADI course in June. From what I've read, the main benefit is longer bottom times since you are breathing a lower percentage of nitrogen.

Nitrox is great for repetetive dives or dives deep enough to tease or reach you NDL on air that are in the safe range for you PPO2. For the basic bug chasing shore dive the LDS would be the bigger benificiary. There are anecdotal reports of divers feeling better after diving on enriched air as well.

If you wander up to Maine give us a shout. Here the Lobstah are for viewing only.

Hey drmdiver! welcome to scuba board...I just joined yesterday but boy has this site kept me busy. I am a newbie diver so I don't know much and can't answer your question but I just wanted to say hi. I was certified at the University of New Hampshire. My buddy and I went diving at Nubble Light (in York, ME) and chased some lobsters around! (sshhh don't say anything, but the one we caught was yummy!) :-D
