After a 2 week vacation to the USVI I am getting back into the diving world. Found SB and it seems like a great fit. Hope to become a contributing member of the community. First dives were in Lake Erie in 73 and have dove around the world since.

Welcome to SB, Cromagnon_69. Yes, you will find a wealth of information here. And most everyone here has a unique experience or perspective to learn from. So, sit back, fire up that web browser, and enjoy your stay.

Welcome (back, I suppose, in a way). Which U.S. Virgin Islands did you visit, and what did you think of them? They've got quite a bit to offer.

Richard.

Spent most of the time on STX but ventured to STT for a few days. I would go TDY a couple of times a year to STX in the 80's but the wife had never been, so we went over Christmas. Had a great time and we much prefer STX. The tempo and traffic is more to our liking.

We snorkeled for hours every day. All of the local dive shops were friendly and helpful. Saw turtles everytime we put our face in the water. All of the typical shallow tropicals in the sand and grass. We did see a couple of eels off the pier in Fsted.

We aren't much for nightlife so can't opine on that part of the culture. Enjoed the distilleries and microbreweries though. Can't complain about the weather either. It rained once in the evening. Coming from Colorado we didn't run the AC at all.

Overall we will be going back. My wife and I are both tired of traveling so it is nice that it is part of the US and easy to get to.
