Hi everyone, I've been lurking on this site for a while but have finally decided to post a greet and hopefully meet some divers from around my area of town. That will hopefully lead to them wishing to take me along on some local dives (I don't have a dive buddy).

I prefer boat dives for sure and after my certification, have only dived in tropical waters. I do however wish to dive more at home and take advantage of what I have been told are some of the best dive locations in the world almost right at our doorstep.

I am currently looking to purchase my own reg, backup, and BCD so I am interested in suggestions or assistance. I have done a bit of research online and am leaning towards Aqualung - Titan LX regulator (with ACD) and Titan backup, also a Pearl BCD w/i3 technology.

I plan on heading to Mexico (the Mayan Riviera) in the fall (November) as I like to go somewhere warn at that time of year, every year. I also really like a particular resort located down there. My last vacation I went solo, perhaps this year I will have a new dive buddy friend to go with - only time will tell. It's January 1st today, so time to get started with that resolution - to dive locally a few times this year and meet some new friends in the dive community.

I look forward to hearing from you, feel free to post up or send me a PM. Ciao for now!!!

I was recently certified PADI Open Water, in September, 2010.
Looking forward to my first diving vacation in Cozumel, Mexico next March.
Nothing booked yet but I'm leaning towards Dive Palancar at the Occidental Grand Cozumel.
Really keen on this new-found activity and soaking up all the reading material I can get my hands on, until the snow melts!

Hey :admingreet: and welcome. You'll find most of the folks on this board tend toward more technical gear, but there's lots of good input on the rec kit too. Remember, you are the one that has to use it and trust it, so take opinions with a grain of salt and the good intention with which they are given. :)

Welcome to the board!

Here are some tips to make your time at Scubaboard a fantastic experience:

1. Fill out your profile. This lets us get to know you! Who knows, maybe there are others out there who share your love of underwater basket weaving!

2. Check out the forum on Scubaboard that is specific to your geographical location.

3. Don't hesitate to ask any dive-related questions you may have. There WILL be someone here who knows the answer. There also may be people who are sarcastic or attempt to make you feel silly for asking questions. Keep in mind that Scubaboard is like a salad bar. Take what you like and leave the rest!

4. When available, really get involved IN PERSON. Several of us regularly attend local functions where we dive and dine together. It really does enhance your Scubaboard experience!

Welcome!
