Hello all, I just got finished with my OW cert. I have most of my gear. I spent some time researching before I bought it. I went Scubapro with a mk25/600s reg an air z nitrox computer and a nighthawk bc. I was interested if any one has had any problems with this stuff I should know about. I hate to buy gear twice so I decided to bite the bullet and pay up. I still need a wetsuit and was thinking of a 7mm Henderson gold core. Any info will help.
Best Regards:)

Congrats and welcome from one newbie to another.

I just got certified 2 weeks ago and we bought all our gear (except tanks and computers) before our cert dives (there goes Christmas and birthdays for a while!). I think its the best thing you can do if you are serious about diving. If you spend that much money on gear then you won't be as likely to give up on it! We have since bought 2 tanks (looking for 2 more) and have decided that computers would be invaluable!

Once again, congrats and welcome!!

I have a henderson hyperstretch 7mm with a hooded vest for use in 50F Monterey waters, and love it....

Welcome to the fun world of diving!

Depending on the temperature where you intend to dive the 7mm might be fine, overkill, or insufficient.

Can you fill the board in on the kind of diving you plan to do and the temps you expect to encounter?

Luckyfishrag,

Congrats on your accomplishment. I use the same equipment configuration for classes while DM or Instructing and have been very pleased with it. As with all equipment, keep it well maintained.

i am going for dm and i have about 25 dives in my 7mm henderson gold core farmer john. great suit but it is warm concider were you are going to dive with it. I have had mine at 80ft in 39* waterwith hat & gloves and have been toastie. Also remember your weighting with a new suit. i weigh 265 and it floats me well. i had to add 4 lbs for mine.
