Hello all,
I have recently received my diving cert. along with my wife. We went through the padi class and finished in July of this year. I am a firefighter in Indiana. It's no FDNY but it's still a great place to work. My wife and i are new to diving so we're looking for some great spots to go diving. Got any places where there is good marine life my wife would love it!

Welcome to the board... I'm new to diving as well (just did checkout dive 8/31)... Where do you want to go?? The FL keys is always great, but there are tons of places worldwide to go...

well right now we're trying to keep it within the states. She really wants to do some diving with some dolphins or sting rays. We'd also like to do some good wreck diving. We dove in Jamacia, and flordia and really haven't seen to much except sand. Any help would be great.

welcome aboard

Welcome aboard. If you want to stay in the states, I would recommend Key Largo.

I am also new to Scuba Board. I actually spent two years at Lawrence Central H.S. many years ago, I graduated from H.S. here in Hawaii, though, and have lived on Maui since l969, (probably before you were born) Anyway, I have been diving here since the late l980's. I would be happy to make some recommendations with local dive shops where I know you can't go wrong. If you will be staying on the West side of Maui, go into Lahaina and hook up with Lahaina Divers on Dickenson Street. They offer a unique, new every Friday dive off of the Island of Molokai, to see the hammerhead shark school. No one else is doing this that I know of. They also go to Lanai. I like their operation but the boat I have been going with longest is Mike Severns diving. They have the most knowledgeable dive guides as far as marine life goes.

Aloha and welcome to the world of diving. Hawaii is a great option for a diving vacation in the states and each island offers something a little different from the others. Come on out - you'll get a beautiful well-rounded vacation along with some awesome and very unique diving...i.e. Manta Ray dive on the Big Island, some cool wrecks in Oahu (among other things), tremendous diversity in Kauai, and I'm sure others can jump in to add more about what makes diving/vacationing in Hawaii so great.
