New to diving and shopping.

Hello everyone

I am new to diving and new to this site. I am so new that I just starting to shop for gear and am looking for a good wetsuit. I am 6'6", 230 lbs, 44" chest, 41" belly, and 44" at the hips. I tried a Mares 5 4 3 in an XXL which according to their size chart should have fit but ended up being way too small. Couldn't even get it zipped up. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the sport and the site. I'd recommend you check out your local dive shop or somewhere in the area that can get you some Henderson wetsuit. Henderson USA - Henderson

by the way, make sure you try on wetsuits with a buddy and do a recommended 3 minute safety stop before removing said wetsuit. **please reference Close Call in Dressing Room thread to understand the humor**

That sounds like my experience. The more I tried to pull the wetsuit on the more I started to sweat. I work out at least 3 times a week at a gym doing both cardio and weight training and I think I burned more calories trying to get the wet suit on than I do in any workout.
I'll check out a Henderson. Thanks for the advice.

I have a big chest build too. I did better with pinnacle. Back zip 1/2 mil and also got a 3 mil from them. I also bought one size bigger so i didn't feel like awkward suiting up in a boat. I know we are all squeezing it in but it can be quite a workout.
Welcome, check the equioment section too.
O use a scubapro BCD. Nice fit.
