I have just brought a semi dry suit. I have not done scuba bafore so I dont know if it fits or not. I have been told by the shop man that it should be tight but I feel like its pulling my shoulders into my chest. I have asked my diving instructor had he has seen the suit on me and says it to tight. I called the shop man and he said it has to be tight as the suite will stretch, my instructor said that rubber cant stretch. I think they are having a battle of the skills. Can some one tell me what a suit should and should not do.

It's a 7mm with legs attached to a vest type top the jacket is also a tight fit and is a bit constricting around my neck. Will it feel different in the water , and fit a bit better?

Thanks

Newbie:confused:

Its quite hard to judge the fit over the 'net

It should be quite tight but not over restricting... hows that for vague. It will definitely feel better in the water. It will also fit better after several dives. Can't say if this one is TOO tight though.

If you are spending a lot of money then it is worth getting a good fit. Is there another shop in the area for comparison?

Were missing some info here....... I take it your suit is neoprene, and the seals are rubber? What type of suit is it?

Can you try on the next size larger? When I purchased my semi-dry wet suit I faced the same problem, how do I know if it fits never having worn a relatively think wetsuit before. So I was sure to try on the size above and below the size I purchased just to reassure myself that I had the best possible fit.

Thanks for replying, the suit is not to restricting round the limbs but it is in the crotch to shoulder department. I sat in a cold bath and not mutch water can in the trouser part and only a little in the jacket. I suppose that more will flood in as the pressure get up. Have you had a tight fitting suit that has "streched"? The suit is a mares 7mm thermo something £160 it has silver sort of ankle and cuff seals but not rubber.
