Working on my cert right now and am VERY excited.

I may find it as I look around the forums, but for starters I'm wondering what makes a good dive computer, regulator, BCD, etc.

What's the difference between a $300 and $600 regulator going to be? I just want to be able to breathe out of the thing. It's not like the $600 one is velvet lined.

The same for a dive computer. I want basic functionality, but I don't need it to give me google maps turn by turn directions down there :)

Oh yeah, will be looking for diving buddies in about 21 days

You must be training for a career in management as your answer was technically correct yet completely useless

Welcome to the 'board and hopefully to the underwater world!!!

First, I love your responce to "aquaregia" :rofl3: Second, your regulator is part of your life support system... get what works for the kind of diving you plan on doing...Here is Calif. you will want something the handles our cooler water yet you don't need to worry about diving in less than 45*f..... check out our forum on regulators, snoop around, ask and listen. Ask your dive shop why the differance and confirm what they say to our "usually" helpfull persons here.

Next, please feel free to drop on down to your local forum and join in our fun here:

Congrats with ur getting cert and if I may make a suggestion to call Lake Mohave Scuba in Bullhead City 928-758-dive, to get good sound advice for your new equipment, Randy is the owner and has equipment in store you can actually see and he can answer all your questions, he is honest and wont upsell you something you arent going to need, they have a brand new store and a great staff, I think he could really help you.. Also I can tell you as far as dive buddies and going to great dives I own Wild Pirate Scuba Charters, 1888-973-4837 or email us at dawnirotten@wildpiratesscuba, we dive every weekend and take divers out during the week if that is a time you may have to dive, we have great sites to dive and look forward to hearing from you and give you more details, you wont be disappointed..
